Common Name The Like the Heart-Shaped Leaf Pleurothallis

Found in Guatemala, Nicaragua, Costa Rica, Panama, Colombia, Ecuador, Peru, Bolivia and Venezuela in wet montane and piedmont forests at elevations of 20 to 1800 meters as a miniature to small sized, hot to cool growing, caespitose epiphyte with cordate leaves that is with erect, stiff, slender ramicauls with 2 basal, elongate, tubular sheaths and a single, apical, ovate, triangular, cordate, acuminate, stiff, slightly coriaceous leaf held perpendicular to the erect stem and blooms in the fall through the spring, often reblooming off old inflorescence on an apical, short, fasciculate inflorescence with a tubular, as long as to just shorter than the pedicel floral bract and holds the flowers against the base of the leaves.

This species is variable in both color and form. Slender ramicauls bear a small, cordate leaf at the base of which a succession of small, yellow widely expanded flowers are produced. The sepals are less than .2" [5 mm] long and the petals are ususaly about half as long and less than 1mm wide at the base. The lip is ovate and obtuse, usually about .08" [2 mm] long and about .04" [1 mm] wide. A glenion is present at the base." Luer 2005
