Common Name Robert's Pleurothallis [Named in honor of Roberto Kautsky of Domingo Martins, co-collector of this species current]

Flower Size .2" [5 mm]

Found in Espirito Santo state of Brazil at elevations around 1000 meters, as a mini-miniature sized, warm to cool growing, densely caespitose epiphyte with slender, erect ramicauls enveloped by 2 to 3, thin, tubular sheaths and carrying a single, apical, erect, coriaceous, narrowly elliptical-obovate, subacute, narrowly cuneate below into the petiolate base leaf that blooms in the late spring on an erect, arising from near the apex of the ramicaul, peduncle 1.6 to 2" [4 to 5 cm] long, rachis 4 to 4.4" [10 to 11 cm] long, loose, subflexuous, successively single, several fowered inforescence with much shorter than the pedicel floral bracts.

"This species is similar to P conspersa, but differs in the ementose flower, the petals intact and broadly ovate, the labellum with the anterior lobe intact and the lateral lobes above the base. The tiny species also is densely caespitose and is characterized by slender ramicauls considerably shorter than the narrowly obovate leaves they bear. The flowers are produced successively and distantly in a loose, subflexuous raceme that far exceeds the leaf. The dorsal sepal and synsepal form a bilabiate flower with the broadly rounded petals in the angles between them. The lip is trilobed with low, antrorse basal lobes and an oblong anterior lobe with the apex rounded." Luer & Toscano 2002
