Common Name The Tepui Pleurothallis [refers to its occurence on tepuis]

Found in Bolivar state of Venezuela in dwarf forests on tepui summita at elevations around 700 to 2200 meters as a small sized, warm to cold growing, caespitose to shortly creeping epiphyte with terete ramicauls basally enveloped by a series of large scarious sheaths and another median sheath above and carrying a sinfgle, apical, coriaceous, linear-elliptic to narrowly oblong elliptic, apically obtuse, minutely tridenticulate, basally attenuate below into the pseudopetiolate base leaf that blooms in the mid winter, late summer and early fall on a single, successively few, arising through a conduplicate spathe, racemose, 1.6 to 4.8" [4 to 12 cm] long, laxly to subdensely 10 to 25 flowered inflorescence with cupiliform, shorter to longer than the pedicel floral bracts. and carrying campanulate, hyaline with purple nerves, glabrous flowers.

Similar to P galeata, Pleurothallis batillacea but differs in the much narrower leaves, its smaller size, in the successive, solitary inflorescence and in its synsepal as broad as the dorsal sepal." Carnelvali and Ramirez 1993
