Common Name The Robust Scaphyglottis [refers to the habit]

Flower Size .8" [2 cm]

Found in Cartago province of Costa Rica and Panama province of Panama at elevations of 200 to 1000 meters as a small to medium sized, hot to warm growing epiphyte with superimposed, cylindrical to narrowly fusiform pseudobulbs carrying 2, apical, erect spreading, narrowly oblong to oblong elliptic to elliptic, subcoriaceous, unequally bilobed apically leaves that blooms in the winter, spring and summer on a terminal, 1 to 6, succsessively many flowered inflorescence arising from 5 conduplicate bracts.

Similar to S modesta but occuring only in Panama where S modesta does not, larger and more robust plant with larger flowers with a simple lip and prominent subquadrate wings on the column.
