Found in the Andaman Islands and Nicobar Island as a large sized, hot growing epiphyte with a succulent stem with glossy leaves carrying large, fragrant .

" Often relegated to the synonymy of V. albida to which is closely related. However, it has a larger penicillate callus in which the scales are so divided, that they look more like hairs than scales. This, together with its isolated distribution in Andaman Islands, suggest that is better considered as a distinct species.' Soto Arenas & Cribb 2010
