Common Name The Hair Like Root Xerorchis

Found in Santander, Cauca and Caqueta department of Colombia, Amazonas state of Venezuela, French Guiana, Guyana, Ecuador, Loretto department of Peru, Bolivia and Amazonia state of Brazil at elevations around sea level to 550 meters as a medium sized, hot to warm growing terrestrial with soft roots, erect cane-like stems carrying flat, distichous, lanceolate, acute to acuminate, plicate leaves decreasing above in size into the floral bracts that blooms in the later spring on axillary, to 2.8" [7 cm] long, successively single 4 to 8 flowered inflorescence.

"Separated from the similar Xerorchis amazonica by the form and size of the floral bracts. X trichorhiza has ovate-lanceolate floral bracts instead of linear floral bracts, the middle lobe of the lip is cuneate-ovate versus orbicular and 2 obliquely inserted calli in the center disc of the lip versus ecallose."
