Common Name Chacao Anacheilium [A region in Colombia]
Flower Size less than 2" [less than 5 cm]
Found from Mexico, Guatemala, Belize, El Salvador, Honduras Nicaragua, Costa Rica, Panama, Colombia and Merida state of Venezuela from open oak and deciduous forests at elevations of sealevel to 300 meters as a small to medium sized, hot growing, cockleshell epiphyte or lithophyte with gray green, subcylindric to ovoid pseudobulbs subtended by bracts with 2 to 3, subcoriaceous, narrowly elliptic leaves that blooms in the midwinter till early summer on an apical, terminal, arises on a newly mature pseudobulb, subtended by a basal sheath, to 4" [to 10 cm] long, shorter than the leaves, racemose, 2 to 8 flowered inflorescence with triangular, acute, much shorter than the pedicel floral bracts and carrying fleshy, fragrant, nonresupinate flowers.
This species is often confused with A fragrans and E radiata but those plants are grey colored, not green nor yellowish green! Compared with A fragrans it has two leaves instead of one.
Close to Anacheilium ionophlebium but it has keeled sepals and a lip callus that is not sunquadrangular.
