Found in Espirito Santo state of Brazil in forests at elevations around 1200 meters as a miniature sized, cool growing, caespitose epiphyte with slender, indistinctly triquetrous above the middle, erect ramicauls enveloped by a close fitting, tubular sheath on the middle third and 1 to 2 more at the base and carrying a single,a pcail, erect, coriaceous, narrowly elliptical, subacute to acute, narrowly cuneate below into the base leaf that blooms in the spring on an erect, arising from the base of the leaf through a spathe, subcongested, 4 to 5.2" [10 to 13 cm] long, distichous, several flowered inflorescence with shorter than the ovary floral bracts.
"Related to P capillaris but distinguished by the larger flowers that are held upright in a longer, strict raceme. The sepals are a third larger, the petals are twice as broad and the calli on the disc of the larger lip extend from near the apex to the base.' Luer 2006
"This small species is characterized from others by narrowly elliptical leaves with shorter ramicauls that are surpassed by a peduncle twice as long that bears a loose, flexuous, long-pedicellate raceme. The sepals are fleshy and pubescent within above the middle; the petals are obovate-spathulate with an acuminate apex; the lip is oblong with a verrucose tip, with erect, broadly rounded margins below the middle, and with a pair of parallel calli on the middle third of the disc."
