Common Name Gardner's Brassavola [English Botanist and Orchid Collector in Brazil later 1800's]

Flower Size 2.4" [6 cm]

Found in French Guiana, Surinam and Brazil as a small to medium sized, hot to warm growing epiphyte with an enlarged stem, almost a pseudobulb, much more so than any other Brassavola, enveloped by a single, stout, leaf sheath and a few small ones below and carrying a single, apical, erect, terete, acute leaf that blooms on an erect, 4 to 6 flowered inflorescence carrying night scented flowers.

Said by Kew to be conspecific with Brassavola martiana but differs in the more enlarged stout stems and the lack of hairs on the edge of the lip.
