Found in north Fujian, north Guangdong, Guangxi, western Hubei, north Hunan and Zhejiang provinces of China, and Taiwan in forests on tree trunks and on rocks along valleys at elevations around 1000 to 2000 meters as a mini-miniature sized, cool to cold growing epiphyte with a creeping rhizome that has .6 to 1.4" [1.5 to 4 cm] between each ovoid-globose pseudobulb carrying a single, subsessile, oblong, thickly leathery, obtuse and retuse apically, cuneate below into the base leaf that blooms in the spring on a basal, erect, slender, 2 to 2.4" [5 to 6 cm], often 1 to 3 flowered, umbellate or condensed racemose inflorescence with 2 to 3 tubular sheaths and narrowly ovate, cymbiform floral bracts.
