SECTION Cirrhopetalum [Lindl.] Rchb.f 1861

Type species: Cirrhopetalum thouarsii = Bulbophyllum longiflorum Thou 1822

SYNONYMS = SECTION Rhytionanthos [Garay, Hamer & Siegerist] J J Verm, Schuit & De Vogel 2014; Zygoglossum Reinwardt 1828

Characterized by being medium sized plants with elongated stout rhizomes giving rise to ovoid, well spaced pseudobulbs carrying a single, apical, erect leaf that blooms on a false umbel, like a daisy, and have flowers with the lateralsepals joined in the upper 2/3's and they are very much longer than the other floral segments

There are approximatley 10 species in this section, 1 in Africa and 9 in Asia in montane forests at elevations up to 1800 meters.

Entries below with an asterix are listed in publications by J J Vermeullen and so are more likely correct than ones without. Species with a question mark in front, seem to me to not conform and so please use with caution.
