Common Name The Yingjiang Bulbophyllum [A county of western Yunnan province of China]

Found only in western Yunnan province of China in montane forest on tree trunks at elevations of 1400 to 1700 meters as a small sized, cool growing epiphyte with a stout rhizome enveloped by short, tubular sheaths giving rise to well spaced, ovoid, obviously 4 ridged, smooth, glossy, pseudobulbs carrying a single, apical, thickly leathery, subelliptic, obtuse, not retuse apically, cuneate below into the petiolate base leaf that blooms in the fall on a basal, erect, 4 to 5.2" [10 to 13 cm] long, stout, peduncle provided with 3 membraneous sheaths, held in an apical umbel, 2 to 4 flowered inflorescence with lanceolate, acuminate, half as long as the ovary floral bracts.

"Bulbophyllum yingjiangense (Epidendroideae; Malaxideae), a new species from western Yunnan, China, is phylogenetically close to B. rothschildianum, and they are also similar in floral morphology. The new species differs in its yellowish green flowers without stripes, pseudobulbs with obvious ridges, lateral sepals glabrous with short tails and leaf with white waxy powder on its adaxial surface."
