Common Name or Meaning The Short Lashed Cranichis [refers to the sparsely ciliolate margins of the petals]

Found in Cauca department of Colombia at elevations around 3000 meters as a medium sized, cold growing terrestrial with a single, basal, erect, sulcate, glabrous, petiolate base leaf that blooms on a strict, erect, peduncle 13.2 to 13.6" [33 to 34 cm] long, densely glandulous-puberulous towards the apex, rachis 2.4 to 2.8" [6 to 7 cm] long, cylindrical, densely many flowered inflorescence with lanceolate, acuminate, slightly shorter than the ovary floral bracts and carrying small flowers with glabrous sepals.
"Can be confused with C polyblephara but it has sparsely ciliate petal margins and a sparsely glandular ovary. According to Schlechter the floral bracts are longer, the flowers are larger, the petals are narrower, shorter and sparsely hairy and the lip is more saccate than its close ally Cranichis antioquiensis."
