Flower Size

Found in Cauca department of Colombia among wet shrubs at elevations around 3130 meters as a small sized, cold growing terrestrial with a single, varigated, ovate, acute, slightly undulate margin, petiolate base leaf that blooms in the late summer and earlier fall on an erect, terminal, peduncle to 9.2" [23 cm] long, delicate, provided with 4 sheathing bracts, glandular below the rachis, rachis 1.2" [3 cm] long, conical, rather laxly many flowered inflorescence with glabrous, as long as the ovary floral bracts and carrying almost transparent, glabrous flowers with a spotted lip.

"Distinguished from Cranichis rotundifolia by the spathulate petals versus ligulate, the 3 veined, attenuate towards the apex lip versus 2 veined. It is also similar to C pennellii but C juajibioyi has a varigated leaf with flat margins and a lip without any undulation. It can be separated from Cranichis badia by C juajibioyi having a single veined dorsal sepal versus 3 to 5 veined, a ligulate petals versus almost filiform, 2 veined lateral sepals versus 3 veined and a sessile lip versus unguiculate."
