Found in Magdalena, Antioquia, Tolima and Cundinamarca departments of Colombia and Carchi province of Ecuador in montane and cloud forests at elevations of 1200 to 2450 meters as a miniature to small sized, cool to cold growing terrestrial 1 to 2, basal, very disimilar in size, smaller narrowly ovate-lanceolate, acuminate, acute, largerovate to elliptical, acuminate, acute, membraneous, reticulate veined, petiolate base leaves that blooms in the fall on an erect, terminal, peduncle 9.4 to 10.6" " [23.5 to 27 cm] long, slender to rather stout, shortly glandular-pubescent above, provided with 6 or so closely adpressed, acute, tubbular sheathing bracts, rachis .6 to 2" [1.5 to 5 cm] long, conical, rather laxly, many flowered inflorescence with lanceolate, acute, glabrous, shorter than the ovary floral bracts.
