Found in Sao Paulo state of Brazil at elevations around 1200 meters as a large sized, cool growing terrestrial with a single, basal, elliptic-lanceolate, acute, narrowly petiolate base leaf that blooms in the spring on an erect, terminal, delicate, peduncle 22.8" [57 cm] long, provided with acute, herbaceous, membraneous, shorter than the internodes sheathing bracts, upper half glandular, rachis to [21 cm] long, densely glandular, lax, multilateral, to 30 flowered inflorescence with linear-lanceolate, acute, single nerved, herbaceous, thin, almost glabrous, longer than the pedicellate ovary floral bracts and carrying small, tubular, basally saccate, long pedicellate flowers.
"Similar to Cyclopogon hatschbachii but The most charateristic feature of this species is its long pedicel, longest in the genus at .14" [3.5 mm]. The epichileis wide, as wide as the length of the hypochile and the basal lip lobules are rounded."
