Found in Peru in wet, cold cloud forests at elevations around 2800 meters as a large sized, cold growing caespitose epiphyte and probable terrestrial with close set, ovoid-pyriform, sulcate-rugose pseudobulbs enveloped basally by 2 pairs of imbricate, articulated sheaths and carrying a single, apical, erect, elliptic-lanceolate, acute, conduplicate below into the base leaf that blooms in the fall on an axillary, paniculate, ascending, twisting-undulate, to 5' [150 cm] long overall, short lateral, 3 to 5 flowered branches, each branch to 12" [30 cm] long, many flowered inflorescence with ovate-triangular, acuminate floral bracts and carrying smoewhat shallowly bell-shaped flowers.

.This species does not fit well in any of the previous combinations listed below starting with the basionym Odontoglossum rubrocallosum D.E.Benn. & Christenson, Icon. Orchid. Peruv.: t. 734 (2001)

Certainly related to C longipes/flavescens but differs in the callus and petal shape and column. It may prove to be conspecific pers. comm. Dalstrom
