Common Name Steyemark's Cyrtochilum [American botanist in Venezuela 1900's]

Flower Size 1.6" [4 cm]

Found in Merida state of Venezuela at elevations of 2400 to 2500 meters as a small to large sized, cold growing epiphyte with an elongate rhizome giving rise to narrowly ovoid, flattened pseudobulbs carrying 1 to 3, subcoriaceous, oblong to oblong-lanceolate, acute, attenuate below into the petiolate base leaves that are enveloped basally by various, distichous, imbricate, foliaceous sheaths that blooms on an axillary, paniculate, to more than 80" [200 cm] long, branches few flowered, to 20" [50 cm] long, many flowered inflorescence with subcoriaceous, ovate floral bracts.

Similar to Cyrtochilum halteratum but differs in the acute petals and the free lateral sepals and a differnt callus of the lip.
