Common Name The Abnormal Dendrochilum [refers to its not having any close relatives]

Found in Borneo at elevations around 600 to 1000 meters as a small sized, warm growing epiphyte with crowded, ovoid, smooth to finely wrinkled, yellowish olive pseudobulbs carrying a single, apical, sulcate, tough, oblong-elliptic, obtuse, shortly apiculate, abruptly narrowing below into the petiolate base leaf that blooms in the later summer and fall on a terete, peduncle 6.4 to 10" [16 to 25 cm] long, yellowish green, with 3 to 4, ovate-elliptic, acute bracts, rachis quadrangular, 7 to 10.8" [17.5 to 27 cm] long, pale brownish green, sparsely ramentaceous, arising from within the expanding leaf, lax to subdense, many flowered inflorescence with broadly ovate, obtuse to subacute, concave, multi nerved, yeelowish green to pink speckled brown floral bracts and carrying dull orange yellow flowers with an orange lip with the central parts red, greenish cream to pale green to yellowish green sepals tipped with brownish pink and a pale reddish brown to orange column.
