Found in Sarawak and Kalimantan Borneo in hill forests and ridge forests at elevations around 1290 to 1400 meters as a small sized, cool growing epiphyte with crowded, cylindrical to narrowly oblong, wrinkled when dry pseudobulbs carrying a single apical, erect, oblong-elliptic, ligulate, obtuse, mucronate to subacute, narrowing and cuneate below into the sulcate to conduplicate, petiolate base leaf that blooms in the summer on an erect to gently curving, arising through an almost fully developed leaf, peduncle 5.2 to 6.8" [13 to 17 cm] long, with solitary, ovate-ellipitic, acuminate bracts, rachis quadrangular, 8 to 9.2" [20 to 23 cm] long, many flowered inflorescence with triangular-ovate, subulate, acute to acuminate, longer than the ovary floral bracts and carrying pale green flowers.

Related to D crassifolium but is distinguished by the much longer pseudobulbs, slightly longer floral bracts and slightly smaller flowers with narrower petals, obscure, auriculate lip side lobes and stelida exceeding the column apical hood.
