Common Name King's Dendrochilum [British Botanist in India later 1800's early 1900's]

Found in Malaysia, Borneo and the Philippines in hill forests on trees and rocks at elevations of 300 to 900 meters as a small sized, hot to warm growing epiphyte or lithophyte with oblong to ovoid, smooth to wrinkled, aggregated to .6" [1.5 cm] apart psuedobulbs envelopd in youth by cataphyls and carrying a single, apical, erect, coriaceous, thin to rather thick, shiny, linear-lanceolate to narrowly elliptic, ligulate, sometimes distally constricted, obtuse to acute, sulcvate, narrowing below into the petiolate base leaf that blooms in the spring through fall on a synanthous, basal, terete, erect to curving, glabrous to sparsely minutely furfuraceous-punctate, slightly fractiflex, to 18.4" [46 cm] long, laxly 6 to 30 flowered inflorescence with 1 to 3, basal, acute sterile bracts and linear-lanceoalte, ovaste-elliptic to ovate, acute to shortly acuminate, convolute flora lbracts and carrying sweetly scented to not, color variable flowers.

J J Smith stated that D glossorhynchum was close to D kingii but it has smaller flowers and there are no stelid present as well as the lip side lobes are somewhat acute and those of D kingii are obtuse.
