Found in Sabah Borneo in upper montane ridge top forests on twigs at elevations around 1900 to 2000 meters as a miniature to small sized, cool growing epiphyte with fusiform to cylindrical, rugose, yellowish when dry pseudobulbs carrying a single, oblong-elliptic to narrowly elliptic, obtuse, attenuate below into the petiolate base leaf that blooms in the late spring on an erect to curved, peduncle 4 to 8" [10 to 20 cm] long, slender, wiry, erect, rachis 2.8 to 5.2" [7 to 13 cm] long, curved, quadrangular, opening from the top top the bottom, many flowered inflorescence with ovate, acute, prominently veined, pale salmon brown, slightly longer to as long as the ovary floral bracts and carrying resupinate, sweetly fragrant flowers with spreading, transluscent pale lemon yellow tepals, a chocholate brown lip and a whitish column.
Superficially similar to D kamborangense but easily distinguished by the small, subentire, ovate lip and the column acking a foot.
