Common Name The Smooth Dendrochilum [refers to the inflorescence]
Flower Size
Found in Sabah and Sarawak Borneo above 1800 meters as a miniature sized, cool to cold growing epiphyte with an oblong-lanceolate leaf that blooms in the fall on a much longer than the leaf, to 11.2" [28 cm] long, arching, nutant, many flowered inflorescence with longer than the ovary floral bracts.
Ames stated that this species was close to D quinquelobum = D gibbsiae but the flowers are much larger in this species as well as the column is much longer and thinner.
Very similar to D gibbsiae in the lip and cloumn but in D exasperatum the leaves are much shorter, broader, more obtuse and have a distinctive transverse venation while the floral bracts and flowers are larger and the lip side lobes are less well developed.
