Common Name The Yolk Yellow Elleanthus

Flower Size

Found in Carchi, Morona-santiago, Pataza and Pinchicha provinces of Ecuador at elevations of 900 to 1600 meters as a large sized, warm to cool growing terrestrial with an erect, rigid, straight, remotely vaginate below, laxly several leaved above stem with striate, asperlous sheaths, leafy in the upper part stem carrying several, plicate, lanceolate, long-acuminate, clasping base leaves that blooms in the spring and summer on a , 5.2" [13 cm] long, sessile, cylindrical, densely many flowered inflorescence with suberect, ovate-lanceolate, acuminate, almost twice as long as the ovary floral bracts and carrying orange red flowers.

Similar to E coriifolius but differs in the very thin textured vs very stiff leaves in E coriifolius and the 5.2" [13 cm] long and densely many flowered inflorescence vs short 1.4" [3.5 cm] long, and loosely few flowered. "Szlatchetko & Kolanowska 2023
