Found in southeastern Bahia state of Brazil in rain forests at elevations of 10 to 50 meters as a miniature sized, hot growing epiphyte with ovoid, rounded basally pseudobulbs enveloped in youth by imbricate, deciduous sheaths and carrying 2, apical, coriaceous, smooth, oblanceolate, cymbidiform leaves that blooms in the late spring and summer on a terminal, erect, racemose, rarely with lateral branches, 6" [15 cm] long, to 10 flowered inflorescence and is mostly a cleistogamous species.
Now said by Kew to be a synonym of E bohnkiana but I have left them separate for now pending better references.
