Found in French Guiana and southeastern Brazil? as a medium sized epiphyte with cane-like, arched, leafy stems carrying oblong to oblong-oblanceolate, acute to sub-obtuse, more or less recurved apically leaves that blooms on a terminal, , branched, basally enveloped by up to to 2 spathes, branches to 6" [15 cm] long, rather densely many flowered inflorescence with lanceolate, acute floral bracts.

Epidendrum dipus Lindl, belongs to the GROUP Pseudepidendrum SUBGROUP Viridipurpureum , characterized by the caespitose, sympodial habit, sub-coriaceous leaves, prominent spathaceous bracts, wide petals (not filiform), the pollinia laterally compressed but not quite bird-wing type, and the mid-lobe of the lip usually bifid. The species is recognized by the short plants, ca, 20" [50 cm] tall, of the short, densely flowered, clearly paniculate many-flowered inflorescence, the sepals green somewhat dorsally tinged with brown, the clearly 3-lobed, white lip with the mid-lobe slightly narrower than the width between the lateral lobesand the petals narrowly spatulate, .08 to .1" [2.0 to 2.5 mm] wide, and with the apex rounded. Epidendrum lindbergii has an entire lip, flowers green, with the disc of the lip and apex of the column white and petals .128" [3.2 mm] wide." Adapted from plate 1450 Hagsater 1013
