Common Name The Red Flowered Epidendrum

Found in Bahia state of Brazil in the Atlantic Forest at elevations of 300 meters as a small sized, hot growing epiphyte with elongate, cylindrical, reed-like stems carrying alternately distichous, coriaceous, elliptical-linear, gradually decreasing in size distally leaves that blooms in the spring on a terminal, erect, 4 to 6" [10 to 15 cm] long, 2 to 5 flowered inflorescence arising through an acute spathe.
