Common Name or Meaning The Rough Lip Eria - In China Ban Zhu Mao Lan

Flower Size .6" [1.5 cm]

Found in the eastern Himalayas, Fujian, Guangdong, Guangxi, Guizhou, Hainan and Yunnan provinces of China, Hong Kong, Japan, Taiwan and Vietnam on trees in dense, shady, evergreen, broad-leafed forests and shrubberies in rocky limestone forests at elevations of 800 to 1600 meters as a miniature to small sized, warm to cool growing epiphyte, lithophtye or occasional terrestrial with contigious, to .4 to .8" [1 to 2 cm] between each, cylindric pseudobulb and carrying 2 to 3, elliptic-lanceolate to obovate-lanceolate, grayish white papilose, acuminate to long-acuminate, gradually narrowing below into the petiolate base leaves that blooms in the late summer and fall on a subterminal, 2.4 to 8.8" [6 to 22 cm] long, to more than 10 flowered inflorescence with deltoid floral bracts

Eria boniana is often cited as a synonym of Eria scabrilinguis Lindl. 1858 [Eria corneri] but was recently separated by Schuiteman based on the acute lip and differing side lobes.
