Common Name Bequaert's Habenaria [French Collector of the type specis 1900's]

Found in Uganda and Zaire among mosses at elevations of 2500 to 3000 meters as a small to medium sized, cold growing terrestrial with an ellipsoid to ovoid tuber giving rise to an erect to ascending, thin, terete stem enveloped by 3 to 5, ascending to suberect, cauline, linear-lanceolate to linear, shortly acuminate leaves that blooms on an erect, terminal, 1.6 to 10" [4 to 25 cm] long, rachis thin, slightly flexuous, 6 to 20 flowered inflorescence with lanceolate, acuminate longer than the ovary floral bracts and carrying resupinate, suberect, green to greenish white flowers.

" This species appears to be referable to sect. Commelynifoliae, in which it belongs to the subgroup characterised by a trilobed lip, and petals which are thickened and opaque in the upper part including H coeloglossoides, H. obovata, H. epipactidea H. peristyloides." Summerhayes 1953
