Common Name The Club-Carrying Habenaria
Flower Size .72 to .88" [1.8 to 2.2 cm] long
Found in Mexico, Belize, Guatemala, El Salvador, Honduras, Nicaragua, Santander, Boyaca, Cundinamarca, Risaralda, Valle de Cauca and Caucadepartments of Colombia and Venezuela in open areas, roadsides, swamps and wet forests at elevations of 2200 to 3000 meters as a small to medium sized, cold growing terrestrial with a subterranean tuber giving rise to a leafy stem enveloped completely by imbicate, leaf bearing sheaths and carrying 4 to 6, green, acuminate, distichous, basally ovate-elliptic becoming lanceolate above, ascending to extended and recurved above, basally clasping leaves that blooms in the summer on an erect, terminal, racemose, 4 to 6 flowered inflorescence and carrying brilliant white flowers.
"Similar to H quinqueseta in habit the lateral lobes longer than the middle one and the petals anterior lobe prominently longer than the posterior one. They are separated by spur length, in H entomantha it is [17 mm] and is subequal to the ovary and longer than 1.6" [40 mm] and longer thna the ovary in H quinqueseta." Szlachetko & Kolanowska 2017
