"In fresh or dried specimens Habenaria ibarrae can be confused with H. ruizii , with whom he is related. In Habenaria ibarrae the leaf blades are erect, up to .84" [2.1 cm] long,.28" [7 mm] wide; subextended dorsal sepal, ca. .2" [5 mm] long; arching labellum lobes reflexive; the side lobes of the labellum ca. .28"[7 mm] long; the middle lobe ca. of .24" [6 mm] long and the cylindrical spur is slightly longer than the ovary and the middle lobe of the labellum and is very little dilated in the rounded, front half which is .58" [14.5 mm] long. Habenaria ruizii has extended leaf blades, the larger .148 to 2" [3.7 to 5 cm] long, .3 to .64" [7.5 to 16 mm] wide; an erect dorsal sepal, .26" [9 mm] long; lobes of the labellum pendant; .36" [9 mm] long side lobes from the breast; the middle lobe .36" [9 mm] long and the spur is shorter than the ovary and the middle lobe of the labellum is inflated towards the broad apex, which is .28" [7 mm] long. In turn Habenaria flexuosa with which our species is also related has the following traits; the eaf blades are erect or ascending, .88 to 2.4" [2.2 to 6 cm] long, .52 to 1.04" [1.3 to 2.6 cm] long wide; an erect dorsal sepal, .36 to .44" [9 to 11 mm] long; the hanging labellum lobes; side lobes from .36 to .48" [9 to 12 mm] long; the middle lobe .296 to .48" [7.4 to 12 mm] long."
