Common Name Nilsson's Habenaria [American Collector of species 1900's]

Flower Size .4" [1 cm]

Found in Bolivar state of Venezuela on sandstone at elevations of 1200 to 2200 meters as a medium to large sized, cool to cold growing terrestrial with an erect, galbrous stem carrying many distichous, lowermost 2 sheathing, next few, lanceolate to ovate, acute to acuminate, grading smaller above into the bracts that blooms on a terminal, erect, 6 to 12" [15 to 30 cm] long, subdensely few to many flowered inflorescence with ovate to lanceolate-ovate, acuminate floral bracts and carrying fleshy flowers.

Similar to H strictissima but H nilssonii difffers in the simple lip and the petals that are eared only on the back side.
