Common Name Ospina's Habenaria

Flower Size

Found in Cundinamarca department of Colombia in open pastures at elevations around 1300 meters as a large sized, cool growing terrestrial with an erect stem enveloped by sheathing bases carrying numerous, lanceolate acute decreasing towards the apex leaves that blooms in the late spring on an erect, terminal, [42 cm] long, densely many flowered inflorescence with leafy, acute, as long as to slightly longer than the pedicellate ovary.leaves that blooms in the spring on an erect, apical, 7" [17.5 cm] long, racemose, rather densely many flowered inflorescence with leafy, acute, shorter than the pedicellate ovary floral bracts.

The short spur is similar to H brachyplectron but the anterior petal lobes of this species are just slightly longer than the posterior lones and the lip lateral lobes are longer than the midlobe. Also the spur of H brachyplectron is obtuse apically.

Similar to H armata but differs in the lateral lobes of the lip shorter than the middle lobe versus longer in H armata and the spur is much longer than the lip middle lobe in H armata." Szlachetko & Kolanowska 2017
