Common Name or Meaning The Lip Like Lepanthes

Found in Morona-Santiago province of Ecuador at elevations around 1600 meters as a mini-miniature sized, cool growing, epiphyte with a pendant, branching rhizome giving rise to ramicauls enveloped by a long-ciliate, lepanthiform sheath and carrying a single, apical, pendant, thickly coriaceous, long-ciliate, elliptical, subacute leaf and contracted below into the ramicaul that blooms in the late winter and early spring on a, short, arising from near the apex of the ramicaul .6" [ 1.5 cm] long, single flowered inflorescence with a long-spiculate, shorter to as long as the pedicel floral bract.
"Similar to L pilosella but differs in the thick, elliptical leaves covered by a fine long pubescence. The shaeths are also finely long-pubescent. The inflorescence is a single, erect flower produced successiverly. The dorsal sepal is concave and the synsepal is ovate and acute. The petals are small, oblong and bilobed at the base. The lip is ovate and protrudes forward beneath the column." Luer 2002
