Common Name The Striped Masdevallia

Flower Size 1 1/4" [3.1 cm]

Found in Antioquia department of Colombia in secondary cloud forsests at elevations of 1900 to 2990 meters as a miniature sized, cold growing epiphyte with an erect ramicaul enveloped by a tubular sheath and carrying a single, apical, erect, oblanceolate, obtuse, narrowing below into the canaliculate, petiolate base leaf that blooms in the spring and summer on an erect to ascending, to 2.8" [7 cm] long, terete, single flowered inflorescence with cucullate-elliptic, apiculate floral bracts.

This species and M heteroptera are very similar but this species has the dorsal sepal of the same length and form as the lateral sepals. If there is a major difference in shape and length then your species may be M heteroptera.
