Found in Norte de Santander department of Colombia in cloud forests at elevations around 2100 meters as a mini-miniature sized, cold growing epiphyte with blackish, slender, erect, ramicauls enveloped by 2 to 3, loose, tubular sheaths and carrying a single, apical, erect, coriaceous, elliptical, subacute to obtuse, narrowly cuneate below into the petiolate base leaf that blooms in the spring on a slender, erect, 2.4 to 3.6" [6 to 9 cm] long, single flowered inflorescence arising from low on the ramicaul with a bract near the base and carrying a fragrant flower
