Common Name Ximena's Masdevallia [Mrs. Hirtz Ecuadorian Codiscoverer of Species Current

Found in Ecuador in wet forests at elevations of 1250 to 1400 meters as a mini-miniature sized, cool growing epiphyte with erect ramicauls enveloped basally by 2 to 3 tubular sheaths and carrying a single, apical, erect, thinly coricaceous, elliptical, acute, cuneate below in to the slender, channeled petiolate base leaf that blooms on an erect, congested, successively few flowered, 2 to 3.6" [5 to 9 cm] long, racemsoe inflorescence arising from low on the ramicaul and has a bract below the middle and thin, tubular, imbricating floral bracts.
