Common Name The Cilate Neobolusia [refers to the lip margin]
Flower Size
Found in Mozambique and Zimbabwe in rocky montane grasslands at elevations around 1500 to 2000 meters as a small sized, cool growing terrestrial with a villous, fusiform tuber giving rise to an erect stem carrying usually three, largest near the base, lanceolate, apiculate leaves that blooms in the late spring and early summer on an erect, 6" [15 cm] long, successively 1 to 2, laxly 3 to 10 flowered inflorescence with lanceolate, acuminate, basally sheathed, equal to much longer than the ovary floral bracts and carrying suberect, green flowers with a purple to brown lip.
"This delightful little species is easily recognised from the other species of the genus on account of the lobed hastate labellum which is densely ciliate all round the margin. As regards the general floral structure it is a typical member of the genus and in habit closely resembles both N. tysoni and N. stolzii ." Summerhayes 1956
