Common Name The Reed-Like Octomeria [refers to the terete leaves]

Flower Size .2" [5 mm]

Found in Colombia, Ecuador, Venezuela, Guyana, Fr Guiana, Surinam and northern Brazil at elevations of 50 to 1100 meters as a small sized, hot to cool growing epiphytye with very long, terete ramicauls enveloped basally by 2 to 3, dry, scarious sheaths and carrying a single, apical, short, terete, acute leaf with no differentiation from the stem and the channeled leaf that blooms in the winter and spring on a very short, fasciculate, successively single flowered inflorescence arising on a mature stem through a small spathe at the base of the channeled leaf.

The first photo seems to be the most correct, the last four are less correct but all fit within the parameters of the drawings.

Part of the SECTION Teritifoliae-Scirpoidae O scirpoidea Alliance with O yauaperyensis and is distinguished by the leaves that are always much shorter than the stems

Synonyms Aspegrenia scirpoidea Poepp. & Endl. 837; Octomeria brachypetala Schltr. 1925; Octomeria brevifolia Cogn. 1896
