Common Name The Two-Colored Oncidium

Flower Size .8 to 1.2" [2 to 3 cm]

Found in Colombia?, Venezuela and Brazil? in the eastern coastal mountains at elevations of 1000 to 1220 meters as a miniature to small sized [plant only] cool growing epiphyte with ovate to elliptical, strongly laterally compressed, ancipitose pseudbulbs carrying 1 to 2, apical, lanceoalteacute, narrowing below intothe shortly petiolate base leaves that blooms on an axillary, almopst straight, erect, to arcuate to nodding, peduncle as long as the rachis, rachis 3 to 5 branched, the branches ascending to spreading, 32 to 45" [80 to 105 cm] long overall, each branch 2 to 7 flowered, the lowest branch with a short single, 2 to 3 flowered secondary branch, to 40 flowered inflorescence carrying non-fragrant flowers.

CAUTION Not to be confused with Cyrtochilum aureum (Lindl.) Senghas 1997 syn. Oncidium bicolor [Lindl.] Beer 1853, Oncidium bicolor Lindl.1843 with the photo above is a valid species.
