Common Name The Fractiflex Palmorchis [refers to the rachis]

Found in Choco department of Colombia in the understory of pastures and hilly forest at elevations around 20 to 100 meters as a small sized, hot growing terrestrial with erect, cane-like stems carrying 3 to 5, towards the apex, plicate, 5 to 7 veined, lanceolate to oblong-lanceolate, acuminate, cuneate below into the petiolate base leaves that blooms in the later fall on a terminal, peduncle .6 to 2” [1.5 to 5 cm] long, arising through a linear, acute spathe, rachis .6 to .8” [1.5 to 2 cm] long, somewhat fractiflex, glabrous simultaneoulsy several flowered inflorescence with ovate-lanceolate, acute, glabrous, longer than the ovary floral bracts and carrying small glabrous, distichously arranged flowers.

"This species is unique in the genus Palmorchis by its fractiflex rachis. It is somewhat similar to P. pandurata, but its epichile is entire, transversely elliptic, obtuse and lip callus consists of 3 lamellae running from lip base to the apex, being highest in the upper part."
