Found in Antioquia and Cauca departments of Colombia in dense rainforests along creeks and road margins at elevations of 1500 to 2000 meters as a medium sized, cool growing terrestrial with 5 or more, in a basal rosette, lanceolate-ovate, acute, 3.2 to 4.8" petiolate base leaves that blooms in the winter, spring and summer on an erect, terminal, stout to slender, peduncle 6.8 to 10.4" [17 to 26 cm] long, glandular in the upper half, provided with 5 to 6, tubular, acute to acuminate, herbceous, thin, delicate sheathing bracts, rachis 5.2 to 5.6" [13 to 14 cm] long, subdensely to densely many flowered inflorescence with ovate-lanceolate, shortly acuminate, herbaceous, thin, more or less glandular in the lower part or along the margins, glabrous above, much longer than the ovary floral bracts.
" Related to Pelexia sinuosa as both have the basal part of the lip strongly sigmoidally bent but P colombiana has no thickening between the basal lip auricles, so characteristic for P sinuosa. Additionally the lip lamina is sharply constricted below the apex, the hypochile is ribbon-like in the lower half, gradually expanding into the broadly ovate-cordate apex with obliquely triangular, subobtuse lateral lobes of the hypochile and the epichile is rhombic-transversely elliptic with more or less undulate margins."
