Common Name Haught's Pelexia [American Oscar Haught 1893 - 1975 and collector of the type]

Found in Magdalena department of Colombia in forests at elevations around 2000 meter as a small to just medium sized, cool to cold growing terrestrial with 6, basal, rosulate, lanceolate to narrowly lanceolate, acute, narrowing below into the narrow, canaliculate, petiolate base leaves that blooms in the late fall and early winter on an erect, terminal, slender, peduncle 8.8" [22 cm] long, glandular in the upper third, provided with 4, narrow, acute, herbaceous, sheathing bracts, rachis 3.2" [8 cm] long, subdensely many flowered inflorescence with ovate-lanceolate, acute, herbaceous, as long as the ovary floral bracts and carrying medium sized flowers.

"Similar to the Panamanian Pelexia ochyrae as both have the lip being constricted just above the basal lip auricles, caused by the bending of this part in its natural position. The new species differs in having elliptic-pentagonal, subobtuse, papillate epichile, with entire margins. The epichile of the lip of P ochyrae is completely different, almost orbicular with erose margins and is acuminate." Szlachetko & Kolanowska 2019
