Common Name Loefgren's Pelexia [Swedish Botanist and Director of the Rio de Janiero Botanical Garden 1800's]
Flower Size .2" [5 mm]
Found in Sao Paulo and Santa Catarina states of Brazil without locational data as a medium sized, cool to cold growing terrestrial with 3 to 6, basal, oblong-lanceolate, acute, langly pseudopetiolate base leaevs that blooms on an erect, terminal, peduncle [33 to 43 cm] long, provided with amplexicvaul, oblong-lanceolate, acute shething bracts, rachis 2.8" [7 cm] long, clustered, many flowered inflorescence with linear-lanceolate, acuminate, pubescent, as long as the flowers floral bracts.
"Porsch compared this species with Sacoila hassleri but differs from it in the leafy stem, the length of the floral bracts and petals in relation topt her the dorsal sepal as well as the shape of the lip and the shape and size of the spur. It is well distinguished from Pelexia laxa by the shape and size of the petals but even more so by the very different leaves and spur. Schlechter compared it to Pelexia ventricosa as both have the lateral sepals forming a sac that is strongly protruding but P ventricosa has lateral sepals that are directly extended forward like those of Pelexia ekmanii." Hoehne 1945
