Found in Caaguazú department of Paraguay as a small sized, cold growing terrestrial without leaves at blooming occuring in the late winter and early spring on an erect, strict to slightly flexuous, peduncle 6 to 8" [15 to 20 cm] long, provided with several, subfoliaceous, submembraneous, green, narrowly linear-lanceolate, long-acuminate sheathing bracts, rachis to 2" [5 cm] long, 12 to 15 flowered inflorescence with erect-patent,

Similar to Pteroglossa macrantha according to Cogniaux. The reason for the comparison must lie in the fact that the shortly vilose covering of the flowers and the rachis is similar.

Schelchter states that the species is a short plant with larger, densely hairy flowers. The sepal sac is quite long and thick. The labellum is obovate-oblong from a narrow base with a broad, rounded anterior lobe and long, linear, thickened basal auricles. The thick column is almost twice as short as the sepals.
