Common Name Andreetta's Phragmipedium [Ecuadorian Priest and Orchid Enthusiast current]

Flower Size 2" [5 cm]

Found in southwestern Colombia and northwestern Ecuador at elevations of 500 to 1250 meters as a small sized, warm to cool growing lithophyte with linear, acute, mid-green leaves that blooms in the fall on an erect to arching, unbranched or with a single branch, 5.2 to 6.4" [13 to 16 cm] long, finely white pubescent, successively several, single flowered inflorescence with ovate-lanceolate, acute, shorter than the pedicel floral bracts

" Phragmipedium anguloi is obviously closely related to Phragmipedium andreettae, from which it differs in three major characteristics: (1) The plants of P. anguloi are much more compact; (2) The staminode morphology is very different; and (3) The pouch morphology is different, showing very distinct and well-developed fenestrations.
