Found in Japan, Korea, Kuril Is., northeastern China and Primorye territory of southeastern Russia as a medium sized, cold growing terrrestrial with a glabrous, erect, strict to substrict stem carrying 2 to 3, distant, lower most oblong to elliptic, obtuse, basally rotund, the upper ones, lanceolate-ligulate, aubacute to acute, much smaller, leaves that blooms in the late sp[ring on a terminal, erect, usually 8" [20 cm] long, strict, laxly 6 to 15 flowered inflorescence with lanceolate to linear-lanceolate, acute, lower flowers larger, upper flowers smaller
"The flowers are similar in size to P mandarinorum but differ in the much more vigorous growth, the shape of the petals and lobes and the drooping , shorter, curved spur. P minor has a similar spur but significantly less curved, but differs in the much more vigorous growth, the longer more extended petals and labellum, and the much broader anther connetive tissue."
