Common Name or Meaning The Small Shoe Pleurothallis [refers to the deeply concave synsepal]

Found in Antioquia department of Colombia at elevations around 2180 meters as a small sized, cold growing, caespitose terrestrial with erect to suberect, stout ramicauls enveloped basally by 2 tubular sheaths and another below the middle and carrying a single, apical, rigidly coriaceous, dark blue-green above, purple suffused below, ovate, acute, deeply cordate, sessile base leaf that blooms in the spring on a slender, arising through and enveloped completely by a reclining spathe, .6" to .75" [1.5 to 1.8 cm] long, fascile of 2 to 4 simultaneous single flowered inflorescence with a thin, tubular, shorter than the pedicel floral bract.
"Distinguished by the large, blue green leaves borne by longer, stout ramicauls. A few fleshy-rigid flowers are produced from a reclinig spathe at the base of the leaf. The dorsal sepal is verrucose and convex with recurved sides. The synsepal is deeply concave and transversely ovate. The petals are verruculose and with obtuse marginal angles above the basal quarter. The lip is thick and transversely ovate." Luer 2005
