Common Name or Meaning The Pretty Frog Pleurothallis [refers to the flower sitting on the leaf]

Found in Antioquia, Choco and Risaralda departments of Colombia in cloud forests at elevations around 1000 to 2700 meters as a miniature to small sized, cool to cold growing, caespitose epiphyte with erect, stout ramicauls enveloped by a close tubular sheath below the middle and 2 others at the base and carrying a horizontal, coriaceous, narrowly ovate, acute, sessile with cordate lobed base leaf that blooms in the spring on a short, arising through a spathe, .2" [5mm] long, fascile of successively 1 to 2 flowered inflorescence with a shorter than the pedicel floral bract.
"Vegetatively similar to many others with strobg ramicauls longer than the horizontal, narrrowly ovate leaf cordate at the base. A broad, gaping, purple flower is borne successively on top of the base of the leaf. The broad dorsal sepal and synsepal are mltiveined the petals are triangular, acute, glabrous and three veined and the lip is broadly ovate and shallowly concave with the surface shiny." Luer 2005
