Found in Nicaragua, Herida, San Jose, Cartago, Alajuela and Guanacaste provinces of Costa Rica, Cocle province of Panama, Colombia and Ecuador in wet montane cloud forests at elevations of 300 to 1300 meters as a miniature sized, hot to cool growing, repent epiphyte with a creeping rhizome, giving rise to a short ramicaul enveloped basally by 2 to 3 close, tubular sheaths and carrying a single, apical, narrowly elliptic leaf that gradually narrows below into an indistinct petiole and blooms in the fall and early winter on an erect, slender, arising from low on the ramicaul, with .08" [2 mm] between each flower, peduncle .6 to .8" [1.5 to 2 cm] long, laxly 2 to 3 flowered inflorescence with as long as the pedicel floral bracts.

"Every .04 to .12" [1 to 3 mm] a short ramicaul and leaf rise from the rhizome. The more or less prostrate, overlapping leaves vary from nearly round, abot .16" [4 mm] long and broad to elliptical and about ,24" [6 mm] long and .08" [2 mm] wide. The foliform peduncle, about twice as long as the leaf, bears 1 to 3 distant, simultanoeus to nearly simultaneous flowers but most commonly 2. The pale green sepals and petals are membraneous and narrowly obtuse, the petals are much smaller and single veined, if at all and the lip is simply oblong and slightly thickened along a pair of veins> Luer 2006
